The Howard University Department of Theater Arts presents a production of Sarafina! Through story and song, Sarafina! follows students from Morris Isaacson High School in Soweto as their focus grows beyond the issue of Afrikaans to encompass every aspect of the black political struggle. Directed by Eric Ruffin with choreography by Jakari Sherman, the book, music, and lyrics are by Mbongeni Ngema and arranged by Mbongeni Ngema and Hugh Masekela. This performance is part of the James A. Johnson Young Artist Series, made possible by Target.

NEWorks Founder & CEO Nolan Williams, Jr. was recognized by his alma mater Oberlin College as one of 21 trailblazing Black alumni. He was honored during Black History Month alongside luminaries Johnetta Cole, R. Nathaniel Dett, Moses Hogan, Rihannon Giddens, Michael Morgan, Michael Sorrell, and more.
